Wig-Wearing Belleair Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Daniel Christopher Williams, 29, of Largo, was arrested Sunday and charged with strong-arm robbery in Belleair and Clearwater

Belleair and Clearwater Police have arrested a wig-wearing Belleair bank robbery suspect, according to authorities.

Daniel Christopher Williams, 29, of Largo, was arrested Sunday and charged with strong-arm robbery in Belleair and Clearwater.

Belleair Police said Williams is the suspect from a June 26 robbery at the Fifth-Third Bank at 601 Indian Rocks Rd. N. in Belleair.

According to Belleair Police, Williams handed the teller a note saying it was a robbery and demanded money.

After the robbery, Williams allegedly fled the bank on a bicycle towards the Pinellas Trail, which police believed was near his home.

Police said during the subsequent investigation, they discovered Williams had previously entered the bank on June 21 wearing no disguise while casing the bank.

Sunday, police arrested Williams.

Williams is also charged with a May 24 robbery of the 1st United Bank in Clearwater.

During that robbery police said Williams, who was dressed as a female, handed the teller a note demanding cash and then ran from the scene.

Days before the Clearwater robbery, police learned he had also entered the bank without any disguise to case the bank.

Williams is being held at Pinellas County Jail on $40,000 bond.
