3 of Florida's 'Best Beach Bars' Are in St. Pete Beach

See where these local establishments finished in an online contest to find the "best beach bars" in Florida.

St. Pete Beach is home to three of the state's best beach bars. That's according to voters on FloridaBeachBar.com, which on Monday released the results of its annual "best beach bar" contest.  Three local establishments cracked the top 10 for 2013: Last year, all three also made the top 10, with Jimmy B's Beach Bar taking the overall crown for the second straight year. Sharky's on the Pier in Venice took the top honors this year. Three other local places also earned honorable mention: Toasted Monkey in St. Pete Beach and Ka'Tiki Sunset Beach and Caddy's of Treasure Island. Read a full review of the list here. Teen Rescued from Drowning on St. Pete Beach

A 13-year-old girl started to go under water, an unidentified man and the girl's sister pulled her ashore.

A 13-year-old girl was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico in St Pete Beach Sunday when she began to struggle with the current and the waves.  As Asia Pinkney started to go underwater, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, an unidentified good samaritan and her sister, Nataijah Pinkney, pulled her from water and to safety on the beach.  Officials said Asia Pinkney was conscious and breathing when they arrived but as a precaution she was transported by ambulance to All Children's Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Deputies said they responded to a report of a near drowning at 2:28 p.m. Sunday at 5900 Gulf Blvd. at the Alden Resort. The sheriff's office said Pinkney family was visiting Florida from Georgia. New Ice Cream Shop on St. Pete Beach Offers Low-Calorie Options

D'Lites Emporium opened on St. Pete Beach in December.

Low calories and ice cream may not seem to logically fit in the same sentence, but a new ice cream and coffee shop on St. Pete Beach serves low-calorie ice cream, non-fat yogurt and other healthy food products. The ice cream is only 50 calories per serving. D'Lites Emporium opened at the busy intersection of Gulf Winds Drive and Gulf Boulevard in December. The shop, with its cheery pink and aqua colors, is in the heart of St. Pete Beach's resort area. "In addition to our ice cream, we have products geared to a healthier lifestyle, sorbet, frozen yogurt and we have a full service coffee bar," said co-owner Cass Thompson. People can "go and get a treat (at D'Lites) and not feel deprived and are more apt to stay on their diet," Thompson said…

Salty Rim has it right. Nori Thai, unfortunately has gone down hill. Vito and Michael's has decadent calzones and its the best late night spot for food. Glad to see the 'list' above are all family run businesses and not corporate food!   more ›
