A St. Petersburg man was arrested by Treasure Island Police, who said he threatened to kill himself and another person.
A St. Petersburg man is accused of threatening to kill himself and a woman with a gun, according to Treasure Island Police. Matthew Warren Beller, 46, was arrested April 28 on the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery/domestic and felon in possession of a firearm. All three counts are felony charges. According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's report, Beller threatened the victim with a Grendel P10 .380 pistol. Beller is awaiting trial at the Pinellas County Jail. A man who stole a credit card during a February car break-in was then using it to make purchases around the Tampa Bay area, according to authorities.
Detectives are looking for a man accused of stealing credit cards during a car break-in in Indian Rocks Beach and a home burglary in Dunedin, then using them to make purchases around the Tampa Bay area. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has security camera footage of the unidentified man whom they say was responsible for both crimes on the same day back on Feb. 19. The credit cards were then used at several locations in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The car-break in occurred in the 300 block of 12th Avenue on Indian Rocks Beach. For Sgt. Denise Nestor, prevention is a family affair. Not just for her, but for all families. Nestor, a mother and Pinellas County Sheriff's sergeant, offered plenty of preventative tips to parents and children during at Dunedin's 12th annual Touch-a-Truck on April 27. Prescription bill abuse in the United State is still on the rise and is the No. 1 type of drug abuse in the U.S. and Pinellas County. Saturday, in accordance with National Prescription Drug Take-Back day, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is hosting Operation Medicine Cabinet at eight locations throughout the county. The event is designed for citizens to safely discard unused or expired prescription medications. You can drop off prescription medications from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Petersburg Police Department and the Walgreens at 5701 22nd Ave. S in Gulfport. Deputy Dan DiCicco – a SWAT team member, graduate student and former high school football player – pursued life to the fullest, after a diagnosis of cancer in his teens.
Deputy Dan DiCicco is being recalled for inner strength and perseverance to reach his goals, despite a diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease in high school. DiCicco died Sunday, April 14, at the age of 29. The funeral service for DiCicco will be Monday at First Baptist Church in St. Petersburg. According to an article in the Tampa Bay Times, he passed away at Northside Hospital two days after collapsing in a parking lot. Friends and family are recalling the deputy as a man who worked hard to achieve and never gave up. DiCicco was a standout player and captain of his football team at Dixie Hollins High, when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. A convenience store clerk is charged with selling the synthetic marijuana, which contains a substance banned by the Florida Attorney General in December.
The arrest of a St. Pete Beach convenience store clerk on charges of selling K2 or spice, a synthetic marijuana, is the first of its kind by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office since a recent ban was enacted, authorities said Wednesday. Nadeem Malik, 40, is accused of selling the substances to an undercover narcotics detective on two occasions in January at Sunshine Food and Gifts, 6880 Gulf Blvd. The substances were later tested and found to contain XLR-11, one of 22 synthetic substances banned by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in an emergency order issued in December. A man was seriously injured after apparently falling from the rooftop of a Johns Pass parking garage in Madeira Beach, authorities said. Nicholas Voutsinas, 31, and a friend had climbed up to a restricted roof area of the parking garage — about seven stories high — "to get a better view of the city" sometime around midnight Thursday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The friend decided to come down, deputies said, while Voutsinas remained. By the time the friend reached the ground floor, Voutsinas was already laying in the roadway unconscious. Thursday, deputies, firefighters and church volunteers from Calvary Episcopal Church of Indian Rocks Beach will deliver the foods to 70-plus families in Pinellas County.
More than 70 families in need throughout Pinellas County will be celebrating Easter this weekend with a hearty meal provided by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District and Calvary Episcopal Church. Deputies with the community policing unit, firefighters and church volunteers will be meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday at the loading dock behind the Publix at 12022 Indian Rocks Rd. in Largo to pick up the meals. Calvary Episcopal Church of Indian Rocks Beach is heading the event, according to a news release.
