Get Gangster for Lizard Live at the Sirata

The third annual Lizard Live part will be at Rum Runners at the Sirata and features a gangster themed party.

While a lof of our furry friends need homes and help, too often we forget to lend a helping hand for our scaly pets. The third annual Lizard Live event at the Sirata Beach Resort, 5300 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach, is looking to raise money to help out the Gulf Coast Iguana Sanctuary and Pet Pals of St. Petersburg. The event's theme is called Gatsby and Gangsters, so make sure to break out the pinstripes and flapper dresses if you plan to attend.  There'll be contests and food thoughout the night, as well as a silent auction. Dogs and iguanas will be out at the event and there's going to be live music by a band with a fitting name, The Horny Toads. Lizard Live to Scale the Heat

The Sirata's Third Annual Lizard Live event is scheduled for later this month. However, the ordinarily outdoor event will be held inside this year.

On August 24, the Sirata Beach Resort will host its third round of Lizard Live. The annual event will feature a silent auction, live music and a costume contest. Lizard Live is usually held outdoors near the iguanas, but this year organizers are switching it up and holding the event indoors. Each year, the Sirata hosts the event and donates the proceeds to the Gulf Coast Iguana Sanctuary as well as another chosen charity. Pet Pal Animal Shelter, a no-kill rescue in St. Petersburg, is the beneficiary of choice for the 2012 Lizard Live event. Another change for this year's event is the themed aspect.
