Devastation in Pass-A-Grille (Photos)

What a mess. A tornado that ripped through Pass-A-Grille Sunday tore apart buildings and left residents to pick up the pieces.

It will be some time before Pass-A-Grille, a historic Gulf beach district, recovers from Tropical Storm Debby's wrath.

A late-night tornado Sunday ripped through areas of Pass-A-Grille yesterday, peeling off the roof of a marina, uprooting trees and damaging buildings.

Streets are filled with debris today, as residents and officials survey the area. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Debby lingers over the Gulf, like a party guest who refuses to head home.

Under foreboding skies, residents began the hard work of cleaning up. Some of the hardest hit areas include the Marina, which is missing part of it's walls and ceiling, and the downtown district, strewn with tree limbs and construction materials that the storm dislodged and tossed.

Though not a resident of...Pass-a-Grill... As a 3rd generation Floridian and resident of St. Pete, Pass-a-Grill has always been my beach, my beach of choice. It becomes part of your soul. In each who have selected Pass-a-Grill as their beach of choice, they refer to her as "their/my" beach.
I come out not to jolly over the ills of ....others but to visit "my" special place...for my heart (t oo) weeps for her.
