Treasure Island Could Crack Down on Waterfront Landscaping

The Treasure Island City Commission is considering a restriction on the height of trees and other vegetation in waterfront back yards so they don't restrict views, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

According to the newspaper:

The City Commission talked Tuesday about adding a stipulation to a current ordinance that would require that all vegetation, not just hedges, within the seawall setback be no taller than 30 inches. Currently, the ordinance addresses hedges only.

Commissioners said the new restrictions, if passed, would only apply to new landscaping, and existing vegetation would be grandfathered in, the Times reports.
