Swigwam Asks Customers to Write the Mayor

The Swigwam is asking it's customers and fans on Facebook to write the St. Pete Beach mayor and commission e-mails showing support of the bar.

The Swigwam is trying to rally it's customers and Facebook fans to write the St. Pete Beach Mayor about the recent decision to rescind the sidewalk priviliges of the Swigwam.

At June 26's St. Pete Beach City Commission meeting, the Swigwam lost it's rights to have their chairs outside and for customers to drink on them. Now the Swigwam is asking people on Facebook to write the mayor telling him how much they enjoy all aspects of the Swigwam.

"Email our commission and mayor to let them know, politely, how you support The SWIGWAM, our chairs, and the privilege to have a beer on the sidewalk," the Swigwam's Facebook stated.

The Swigwam is also asking that people before writing e-mails.

At the commission meeting, there were people who attempted to talk to the commission before the vote occurred on the Swigwam. Mayor Steve McFarlin informed them that there would be no public discussion on the matter.

The Swigwam was given 30 days from the decision to remove the chairs and stop the drinking on the sidewalk.

Stop by the Swigwam to sign the petition to recall Mayor Steve McFarlin. We need approximately 725 registered voters to place him on the November ballot in a recall election.

Jeff Janson, president of A Point of You Interior Design on Corey Ave. St Pete Beach has started a petition for the Recall of Mayor Steve McFarlin.
This is Mr. Janson's LATEST attempt to try to keep the consumption of alcohol on a public sidewalk, where he feels it belongs. Mr. Janson is a known, and publicly admitted, "regular" of the Swigwam Bar. As has been witnessed by many, he spends numerous hours of the day and night outside that very bar consuming alcohol while walking around the Public sidewalk. The Swigwam Bar is located across the Avenue from Janson's business. Thus far, some of the signers of Mr. Janson's petition include; Mr. Janson, (for obvious reasons), some anonymous signers, a man with an arrest record from 2010 with 2 FELONY counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and the bitter wife of the ousted EX-Mayor Finnerty. It is doubtful that Janson's petition will generate anything but embarrassment for its supporters. Mr. Janson, perhaps rather than spending numerous hours outside a bar and hurting the image of Corey Ave., your time would be best spent across the Avenue at your OWN business working on repairing your D MINUS Rating with the Better Business Bureau. Quite literally, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS and stop hurting Corey Avenue with your foolish antics!

Mr. Janson, your online profile indicates that you live in Tierra Verde, Florida.
Other listings for you indicate your home address as 343 Corey Ave., St. Pete Beach? It would seem to be strange and possibly illegal for you to live in your storefront at 343 Corey Ave. Since it is required by law that you provide your legal RESIDENTIAL address when registering to vote, please clarify your eligibility to sign your own petition. (Also, please clarify your eligibility to vote in St. Pete Beach's last election.) If you are or have been using your business address as your home address and have provided the Corey Ave. BUSINESS address when filling out your voter registration card, you have quite possibly committed a felony as defined by Florida State Laws. Below is copied from the Florida Voter Registration Card: Criminal Offense: It is a 3rd degree felony to submit false information. Penalties include fines up to $5,000 and/or up to 5 years of prison
