Sheriff Now Patrolling St. Pete Beach

St. Pete Beach is now using the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for their law enforcement.

The switchover from St. Pete Beach to the Pinellas County Sheriff happenend on January 6.

The Sheriff's staff for the first shift in St. Pete Beach was a
sergeant, two patrol deputies, and a Community Policing deputy.

A burglary detective has also been assigned to the city on a full time basis during the week.

The 21 former city officers will undergo a six week training session to learn
Sheriff's Office policies and procedures before taking their assignments in
Patrol Operations, or Court Security.

Do you think the move over will be a good one? Do you think the Sheriff will do a better job than the St. Pete Beach police did? Let us know in the comments!
