Madeira Beach Election Canceled After Incumbent Withdraws

Madeira Beach Commissioner Nancy T. Oakley has withdrawn as a candidate, giving Seat 3 to challenger Margie Elaine Poe.

The Madeira Beach municipal elections scheduled for March 12 have been canceled after an incumbent commissioner withdrew her candidacy, giving her seat to her challenger, the city announced earlier this week.

Nancy T. Oakley, incumbent for the District 3 seat on the Madeira Beach Board of Commissioners, formally withdrew as a candidate Tuesday, according to a release posted on the city's website.

Margie Elaine Poe, the sole challenger, is now unopposed and "will be considered to have voted for herself and thus elected," the release states.
