Police: Men Spotted Breaking Into Hotel Vending Machine

Officers arrested two men after a bag of tools was found in their car, police say.

Two men were arrested after a witness saw them trying to break into a vending machine at a Treasure Island hotel, according to Pinellas County Arrest Reports.

Adam Luke Carroll, 33, of Davie, FL, was seen trying to open a Coca-Cola machine at the Thunderbird Beach Resort just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, police say.

Joshua A. Burford, 32, of Pinellas Park, was spotted on scene, by the same witness, while Carroll was trying to break the machine, according to the report.

When the men realized someone saw them, they left in a gray four door vehicle, police say. A short time later, officials pulled over the vehicle for a traffic violation. The men matched the witness' description and officials completed a "go-by" to confirm the identification of the suspects with the witness, according to the report.

Officers found a bag containing tools on the rear drivers seat. According to police reports, Luke has one prior conviction of tampering with a vending machine in 2007.

Both men are charged with burglary; possession of tools, a felony and tampering with vending machine, a misdemeanor. Carroll is being held in the Pinellas County Jail on $2,650 bail for both charges. Burford posted $2,650 bail.
