Pedestrian Killed in Car Crash in South Pasadena

Margherita Trupiano was struck by a vehicle and killed at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue and Majestic Way.

A car crash in South Pasadena claimed the life of an 83-year-old St. Petersburg woman Monday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Margherita Trupiano was walking across Pasadena Avenue west at the crosswalk
at Majestic Way, when she was struck by a Ford Econo-Line Van driven by 54-year Emile Daniel of St.Petersburg.

Daniel was traveling north on Pasadena Avenue and in the curb side lane.

Trupiano had just stepped into crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle.

Trupiano was transported to  Bayfront Medical Center by ambulance for
treatment of life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:06 p.m. Trupiano lived on Shore Drive South in St. Petersburg

Neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in this case, and the Major Accident Investigation Team of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
