Motorcyclist Dead in Indian Rocks Causeway Crash

Officials say "speed appears to be a contributing factor" in a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Monday night.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single vehicle motorcycle crash that happened on the Indian Rocks Causeway just before 8 p.m. Monday night.

The driver of the 2000 Kawasaki 1100 Supersport, Jacob Austin Scott, 26, of Seminole died as a result of the injuries, according to a media release.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing but "speed appears to be a contributing factor."

According to police, Scott had a suspended driver's license.

The Patrol Operations Bureau and Major Accident Investigation Team, (MAIT), continue to investigate.
