Man Charged with Domestic Battery a 5th Time

A Tampa man has been charged by Indian Shores Police with choking a woman in a Redington Shores home.

Indian Shores Police say a Tampa man staying at his boss's home in Redington Shores became violent and began to choke a woman on a bed inside the home.

Dennis Mills, 39, is charged with domestic battery by strangulation and violation of parole for battery. He is awaiting trial on an $18,000 bond.

This is the fifth time since 2011 Mills has been charged with domestic battery.

According to the arrest affidavit, Mills and the victim were in an argument when Mills threw the victim onto a bed and "placed one hand over her mouth and the other hand around her neck."

The victim told police that Mills was actively choking her so she could not breathe.

Jail records show the incident happened around 4 p.m. Aug. 8.

Police said Mills was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the alleged altercation.
