Woman Accused in Deadly Hit and Run

Investigators say Heather Lynn Mayo, 33, was the driver of a pickup truck that hit and killed an Indian Rocks Beach woman in February as she crossed a street in Pinellas Park.

Detectives say evidence left at the scene of a deadly hit and run that killed an Indian Rocks Beach woman in February links a Palm Harbor woman to the crime.

Pinellas Park Police arrested Heather Lynn Mayo, 33, on charges of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Driving While Intoxicated.

Investigators say Mayo was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck that hit Jeanne M. Fisher, 50, as she was trying to cross the 9700 block of 66th Street on Feb. 4.

Mayo is also accused of driving away without stopping to help Fisher. Fisher died from her injuries.

Pinellas Park Police investigators say they found the pickup truck involved in the crash, which had visible damage from the incident. They say missing parts from the pickup matched evidence found at the scene.

Investigators arrested Mayo after they interviewed her about the crash. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing. Any persons who witnessed the crash or who may have additional information regarding this incident are asked to contact Pinellas Park Police Officer Adam Geissenberger at (727) 541-0861.
