Concrete Cracks in Treasure Island Beach Wall on Commissioners' Radar

Treasure Island City Commissioners expect to hear an update Tuesday about a some cracks that have surfaced in a concrate wall that's part of the city's new beach trail, Bay News 9 reports.

The hairline cracks appeared just after the concrete began to harden on the 400-foot wall, part of a $1.5 million beautification project, according to the news station.

Treasure Island Mayor Bob Minning told Bay News 9 the cracks were caused by a design flaw, and that commissioners plan to address the problem:

“I can’t prejudge how it’s going to turn out, but I’m confident the city commission is going to make sure that what we pay for is what we get.  We’re not going to settle for something that’s not a quality project or not a quality job when all is said or done.” 

The city commission is slated to hear a report from Graham Booth Landscape Architects during Tuesday's meeting, according to the agenda posted online.
