The Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market is welcoming “snowbird” season with extended “Twilight Tuesday” hours on the first Tuesday of each month.

Special thanks to The Gulfport Merchants Association for sharing this press release with Patch!

First Tuesday of the Month

“Twilight Tuesdays” will keep the Gulfport Fresh Market open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5th will be the next opportunity for evening shopping at the Market, along with a cooking demonstration by a popular local chef. Evening hours are in response to popular demand from locals who work during normal Tuesday Market hours.

The Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market is one of the only Markets in the region to offer evening hours. Regular weekly hours for the Fresh Market are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on other Tuesdays. The Market is held on Beach Blvd. below 28th Ave. South.

Cooking Demonstration by Chef Jill Johnson

On February 5th beginning at 6:30 p.m., Chef Jill Johnson will offer a discussion of the quinoa grain, including information on its history, nutritive value, and preparation techniques. She will demonstrate the preparation of her own popular quinoa salad, offering samples and recipes. Johnson previously owned “Mangia” restaurant in St. Pete Beach and is now the proprietor of her own popular “Mangia Gourmet” market and catering business. Other cooking demonstrations and events are planned for each “Twilight Tuesday” at the Fresh Market continuing through the season.

About the Fresh Market

Over 50 vendors are present at the Fresh Market each Tuesday, day and evening, offering a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, cheese, seafood, Florida grass-fed beef, honey, herbs, sauces, jams, desserts, and other unique and artisan foods.  Shoppers may choose from ingredients to create their own cuisine, or prepared foods that are ready to take home to heat and eat. As always, many other items are available from Market vendors, including hand-made bath and body items, jewelry, plants and flowers, art work and fine crafts and much more. Live music in two locations is always featured during the Fresh Market and will also be part of the evening experience.

The village in which the Market takes place includes a variety of independent shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants, all within easy walking distance.  The cluster of restaurants in the village has become one of Tampa Bay’s premier dining destinations. Shops and restaurants will be open and will welcome Tuesday evening visitors. Parking is free and convenient. Parking is free and convenient. Gulfport’s Fresh Market is a community-spirited gathering in a small, "Old Florida"-style town, with its motto: “Food for your body; community spirit for your soul.”
