Patch Minute: Blowing Glass, Art Demos, Film Screenings

Fine Arts Friday kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. in downtown Gulfport. Stop by and watch local artists perform live demo's, glass blowing at the IAC and film screenings in the Alley of the Arts. That and much more in this week's Patch Minute.

Welcome to this week's Patch Minute! What are you doing this weekend?

In Gulfport

Stop by the First Friday Art Walk on Beach Boulevard in Gulfport. From 6 - 8 p.m. local vendors will be set up with goodies, home decor and local art. On the 2800 block you'll find local artists performing live demo's of their work as part of Fine Arts Friday, sponsored by the Gulfport Merchants Association and Industrial Arts Center. In the Art Village Courtyard, you'll find artists blowing glass at the Industrial Arts Center. Featured guest artists Doug Merritt will be on hand as well! Then, walk over to the Alley of the Arts and view one of three films that will be shown at the Schork~Munsell Studios 2 at 5437 29th Ave S.

In St. Pete

Friday night some of the nation's top high school senior football players will be competing in the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game at Tropicana Field. The sixth-annual game will take place at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 Tropicana Field. The game will be televised live on ESPN. Tickets can be purchased for $18 online.

In St. Pete Beach

Check out the Pass-A-Grille Art Mart Saturday held on the beach patio next to the Paradise Grill and across from The Hurricane and browse fine art and handmade local crafts. The vendors will be out from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
