St. Pete Beach Police Vote to Institute the Sheriff's Office

Fourteen St. Pete Beach Police Officers voted that bringing in the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office was the best course of action.

There have been recent discussions on with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, and it seems as though the St. Pete Beach Police support the idea.

The St. Pete Beach Fraternal Order of Police voted 14 to 9 to endorse the dissolving of the St. Pete Beach Police Department, according to an article from the Gulfport Gabber.

The St. Pete Beach Police explained that the switchover would be beneficial for everyone.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri has already confirmed that everyone currently employed by the St. Pete Beach Police Department would receive a job in the Sheriff's Office.

By switching over to the Sheriff's Department, the city would save $1 million in their annual budget.

Though the St. Pete Beach Fraternal Order of Police endorses it, the decision will come down to the voters later this year in the November vote.
