Motorcycle Crashes Head-on Into Toyota Prius

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says that alcohol 'appears to be a factor in the crash.'

Two drivers were injured Thursday night in St. Pete Beach, when deputies say a motorcycle drove head-on into a Prius traveling in the opposite direction on Blind Pass Road.

Investigators say that "alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash," according to a press release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Joseph William Maksimowicz, 21, of St. Petersburg man was hospitalized in critical condition, as a trauma alert, after the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle he was driving north crossed into the southbound lane.

Deputies say that the motorcycle was traveling at "an excessive rate of speed when it crossed into the Prius' lane and struck the Toyota head-on."

The Prius was driven by Yeinny Yocasta Owens, 33, of Madeira Beach. The driver of the Prius was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries

The accident occurred at about 9:37 p.m. Thursday, April 11, on the 9100 block of Blind Pass Road in St. Pete Beach.
