Madeira Beach Man Killed in I-75 Crash
The driver was ejected from his truck after a tire blew out and the vehicle hit the embankment to the Erie Road Overpass.
A 46-year-old Madeira Beach man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on I-75 today after his tire blew out. The truck hit an embankment of an overpass at Erie Road.
Scott Edward Hinchliffe, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed after he was thrown from the Kenworth W900 Class 8 truck he was driving, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The accident shut down the interstate for several hours today as the Florida Highway Patrol investigated and cleaned up the scene. Hinchliffe died at the scene.
According to the report:
The truck was traveling south in the right lane of I-75 when the right front tire blew out causing the truck to veer off of the right shoulder of the road. Hinchliffe was unable to regain control of the truck and continued southbound
down the grassy area of the shoulder.
As the truck continued south it struck the concrete embankment to the Erie Road overpass. The truck was then ramped upward into the Erie Road Bridge and Hinchliffe was ejected from the truck. He landed in the right inside lane of I-75 where he was found dead. The truck came to final rest on its right side on the south side of the bridge.
