Former Jabil Exec Gets Death Sentence

Patrick Evans had owned a million-dollar home on St. Pete Beach. He was sentenced to death by lethal injection for the murder of his estranged wife and her companion.

Former Jabil executive Patrick Evans was sentenced to death Friday for the 2008 murders of his estranged wife, Elizabeth Evans, and her companion, Jerry Taylor.

Evans' attorney, David Barry, said immediately that he will appeal the case, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Evans and his wife, Elizabeth, owned a million-dollar home on St. Pete Beach. The couple was going through a divorce, when she and Taylor were shot to death at her Gulfport condomnium.

A crucial piece of evidence in the trial was a recorded 911 call Elizabeth Evans made the night Patrick Evan snuck into her condominium. She can be heard pleading with "Rick" and screaming after he shot Taylor.

A jury found Evans guilty of the two murders last November, recommending the death sentence.

Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Richard Luce sentenced the 45-year-old former Jabil vice president to death by lethal injection, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
