Beach Snoballs Is a Tropical Destination

With ambitious owners, top-shelf ingredients and unmatched customer service, Beach Snoballs is a business force to be reckoned with on the Pinellas Beaches.

When Beach Snoballs fopened in spring 2009, September Howat and Morgan Wujkowski were regular tourists of the area. They were immediately drawn to the icy cool treats that were served up, New Orleans style.

“We were hooked from the first snoball because the ice is shaved to a powder, so it's soft and velvety,” said Howat.

Now, less than three years later, Howat and Wujkowski own the joint known as Beach Snoballs.

Howat is a graduate of Ferris State University with a Masters in Business Administration while Wujkowski earned her Bachelor’s from the University of Michigan. When the two started dating several years ago, they say that they never imagined owning a business together.

In 2010, the duo made their annual trip to Treasure Island. When they went to grab a treat from their new favorite spot, a “For Sale” sign was hanging in the window of Beach Snoballs. Within weeks, Howat and Wujkowski were “selling what didn’t fit into the car and making plans to move across the country.”

Although they were boldly confident in their decision, Howat says that it was a very spur of the moment decision. “If you told me a year ago that we’d be running Trip Advisor’s number one restaurant on Treasure Island, I never would have believed you,” Howat said.

The girls have big plans to remain at Beach Snoballs. Aside from their overall love for the job, they have set goals for the future. Aside from running a business, Howat and Wujkowski also create pet collars, bracelets and other gear to sell online. Using parachute cords, the products are rugged but also lightweight and colorful.

With the fund raised through their online store, the pair plans to travel the world. They have already mapped out a journey through five continents and 40 countries. Rest assured, Beach Snoballs is here to stay.

“We won’t abandon Beach Snoballs,” assured Wujkowski. “There will be more help to run things when we take our trip.”

For now, these business savvy ladies are soaking up the Florida sun and culture. “I feel so lucky to get to meet people from all over the world and be an ambassador for the area” said Howat.
