Additional Treasure Island Seaweed Cleanup Approved

The Treasure Island City Commission approved spending more money to get the seaweed that was pushed in from Tropical Storm Debby cleaned up.

The Treasure Island City Commission approved spending more money to get rid of the seaweed strewn across the beaches, according to an article from the Beach Beacon.

After Tropical Storm Debby, thick seaweed was pushed on to the beaches and continues to blow in from west winds.

The intial clean up was planned at $5,000 to get rid of the seaweed, but it kept coming in.

The seaweed that has been coming in has been causing a rotting odor on the beaches that has been driving visitors away from the beaches.
