Pinellas County Public Safety Services and Sunstar Commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Drivers out on Pinellas County roadways might see something different when they look to see where the ambulance siren is coming from – Sunstar ambulance No. 52 in a pink and white color scheme. This new paint job is to draw attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Earlier this morning, nearly 50 employees of Pinellas County Public Safety Services and Sunstar gathered for a group photo in front of the ambulance to show their support for this important public health issue and cause.

Nearly one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer during their lifetimes, with nearly 40,000 succumbing to the disease last year. This number is down considerably from the early 1990s due to improved detection and treatment methods, but it is still far too high.
